This is my front cover for my music magazine, the ethos matches the house and style of the magazine, the colours link together and are colour co-ordinated, props were used e.g- sunglasses, rings, jewellery. the font don't differ, it just differs in size, The main content is in bold which stands out to make the magazine more catching.

My magazine is a pop style genre. VIBE magazine produces the same genre, which is the magazine I've used throughout the course as inspiration for the layout, looks and ethos of my magazine. Niki Minaj on the cover of the contents page is centre of the page and the main focus. I aim to make my artist focus on the contents and front cover with information of what the magazine will consist of alongside of the image. A website address will be present on the contents page.

front cover :

i named my magazine TUNEZ- this relates to music vocabulary, also i used a beige colour which is a calm chilled colour which gives a relaxed theme to the magazine. The artist is in black clothing which connotes mystery on a negative point- she is a new artist which reflects the unknown side. The white glasses cover her eyes which again shows unknown which encourages people to buy the magazine and read it to find out. White shows purity and virtue. lastly the purple background shows wealth and creativity.

A music genre is a conventional category that identifies pieces of music as belonging to a shared tradition or set of conventions. music can be divided into different genres in many different ways. There is; pop, hip-hop, R&B, soul, Western, rap, rock and electronic.

The Billboard magazine is featuring Shakira who is an inspiring artist to many young girls. The layout is similar to other front covers they have produced. The colours link to one another, They have purposely used a dark background and her in light white clothing to make her stand out more. The colour White has connotations of purity.. Her body language shows a confident character and she is using direct address to grab the readers attention.

These two magazines are from the branded magazine 'billboard' - Black + White has been used, These two colours are very popular at this time of year as in winter dark colours are used whereas in summer pastel colours and bright colours are used. Both artists are giving direct address to the camera by looking directly towards it. This highlights their facial expression. However the masthead is at the top of the magazine on the second image- this shows that this magazine changes the layout so all the magazines don't look identical.  The second image, the model has had a close up taken of her this is because they are emphasising the facial expression she is showing where as a mid shot is taken of Ariana in the first image as she is striking and timid pose to make her look petite and fragile.

The magazine of Ariana Grande applies the codes and conventions of a typical music magazine;

The masthead is clear, however they are made it different as normally that would appear across the top of the magazine. Not many cover lines are used which makes the image more clear and eye catching. The house style is all co-ordinated which matches the ethos of the magazine.
