Drafting and Planning

This is another draft of my music magazine starring my artist. The mast head i have used is already an existing one because im still in the process of thinking of an idea of the name of my magazine. however the 'vibe' masthead was specifically chosen because this magazine usually associates with pop, r&b and rap artists which is who my artist is. I thought of my final name of the artist which is Serena Gold. This was used when i studied media at GCSE and had to come up with an artist name for a CD cover. For the name i found a website which combined two celebrity names together and i took an interest in. Also i have used several cover lines which consist of talking about existing artist which will no apply in my final product. most of the cover lines are based on music or other artists or celebrities. The cover star story as to why she is present on the magazine is stated about an interview as this will be visible on the double page spread. Lastly i have used a bar code which makes the magazine look more realistic. These features were all used to ensure the magazine looked real and applied to the codes and conventions of a music magazine.

Rita Ora Music magazine-

I researched pop music artists to see how they present themselves in music magazines. A lot of the research i found, female artists tend to wear very little clothing to come across as revealing. Also a lot of the female artists wear a lot of jewelerry and makeup. These features will be present in my music magazine.

Organisation

Blogger tracker shows that my positive area is drafting as i have 17 posts but could do with some similar products research as i only have 10. However my main focus is target audience and organisation as these have a poor number of posts compared to others who have four or five posts. The next few posts i will aim to do two target audience posts and 2 organisation posts.

Another photoshoot of Jayne who will be starring in my music magazine representing the pop/r&b genre. A lot of her outfits consist of aztec patterning which show a crazy, unusual artist. Also the props used within the photoshoot. For example the rose gold watch, gold bracelets and gold and silver rings where used to connote wealth and achievement. Curly/frizzy hair was influence by Niki Minaj. Pink lipstick- girly look. One of the images of the artist in a bikini top was used to make the artist quite revealing which a lot of female artists come across as in magazine front covers etc.

New idea for my artist:

Nikki is another inspiring artist who sings pop/rap. She is a major inspiration to the younger generation. She has a very funky look with variety hair colours and styles. The above images show her bright pink hair with all the coloured clothing/fashion she wears. she wears alotof makeup with shows her girly style.my artist will be clothed in bright coloured clothing which makes it more exciting and appealing to read. Nikki usually wears a lot of jewelerry which connotes her wealth and achievement.

Drafting and planning

The above images are screenshots of a website called visual theasaurus which i visited in research to the masthead of my music magazine. The idea of any terminology in reference to sound will be ideal for a music magazine as it would make more sense. the word which stands out to me most is 'volume' this is because no other magazines have this masthead. Also my artist is loud, confident and bubbly which will also link to the artist itself.

drafting and planning

i have been using a software called page plus, which allows you to use a variety of backgrounds and do rough versions and final versions of whatever your creating. in my case it was a contents page as shown above. The font colour of the word 'contents' which have some link with an item of clothing the artist is wearing. In the above the colour matches the jumper. Also the font of the different topics is in black which links to the trousers the artists is wearing. these colours connote a female attitude as the colour pink is feminine. The colour black on the positive side connotes power, elegance and formality. however on the negative side can connote death, evil and mystery.

The first image will be inspiring my double page spread, however my double page spread will have more text lapping the image. The clothing with be very similar, bright and lively colours to represent the artists personality. the facial expression will be looking direct to the camera. The second image is a rough idea of how i am going to present my contents page. This is with the artists to the side of the page with the information of the pages and topics along the side of her.on both of these pages my artists will be more clothed, however on my front page of my music magazine my artist will be wearing less clothing to make her look revealing and confident.

My artist will be present on one side of my double page spread, similar to the beyonce double page spread, which is presented above. The idea of having my artist cover a whole page is inspired by the above. This makes the double page more eye appealing and will influence the younger generation to read the magazine. Unlike the above page, my double page will have writing blended in with the image of my artist. Also similar colours to above will be used when i make my final product, for example white will definitely be used which connotes purity. The pink connotes feminity and a girly personality but contrasts with the title of 'fiercely' because this clashes with the sweet girly theme. However this makes the magazine unusual. the facial expression will influence in my artist as they eye contact is direct to the camera, which also helps catch the eyes of the reader.

Target Audience

This is a summary graph of a couple of the questions i created in a survey which i thought was relevant to the target audience of my music magazine. By looking at the graphs i can see the main age who filled out the survey where ages 16 to 20. This is the main generation who are more into music rather than the older generation. Also the different genre's of music were all as popular as each other. This gives me a selection of genre's to choose from however i would like my artist to be r&b/pop. This is the most popular genre of music of the 16-20 generation.  Also the average price someone will pay for a magazine is 1.10+ this makes me have an idea of selling my magazine for around £1.65. This survey website can help me when designing my final magazine as it gives me a clear view of what to include in my magazine to achieve the target audience i am aiming for.

drafting and planning

This is how i plan on designing my double page spread. The headline and subheading will be colour schemed with the colour of the clothing on the main model/artist. the colours of the magazine will represent the artists personality and reflect on the type of artists she is.

Drafting & Planning (Remake-Remodel)

My sister Jayne will be presenting my R&B/ pop artist. Vibe magazine usually has pop artists on their front cover such as Niki Minaj, Beyonce and Rihanna. The colour scheme is black and pink. Pink highlight feminine and girly. Black is a simple bold font which usually is present on magazines. I added codes and conventions such as barcode and cover lines etc. The artists facial expression is friendly and makes her look quite shy and innocent. A gold watch and silver rings were chosen for the props present in this photo because it represents value and acheivement. The artists eyes are looking directly into the camera which grabs the viewer attention. Her body language of her hand on her hip shows attitude and highlights her confidence. The influenced artists of my artist are people such as Niki Minaj and Iggy Azalea. These are major pop and R&B/ rap artists who fit my target audience and the artist i want my magazine to be.

On this vibe magazine the background is a greyish sort of colour which comes across as boring/dull colour, But Kanye West (the artist) is wearing a grey jumper with a blue collar which makes him stand out compared to the background. His blue and grey clothing blends well with the theme of the magazine as the same colours have been used. However the colour pink has been used for the cover lines which makes they more eye catching.
I will use this in my magazine to help me develop colour schemes to fit my ethos and house style of my magazine, it will also help me decide how to position my artist; wheter it will be infront of the masthead behind. In the above magazine, Kanye has been bought over the front of the mast head, this draws the attention onto him.
